EIZO EasyPIX Color Matching Tool to Support Hardware Calibration

Hakusan, Japan, January 14, 2011 – Eizo Nanao Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced version 2 of its EIZO EasyPIX color matching tool. This new version will support hardware calibration, thereby expanding its appeal from amateur photographers to a much wider audience of professionals in digital photography and other color-critical fields such as graphic design, pre-press, and animation CAD.

EIZO released version 1 of EasyPIX in 2008 as a simple color matching for photo enthusiasts that did not require any color management expertise. It consisted of proprietary software and EIZO's EX1 calibration sensor.

With this update, EasyPIX can now be used with compatible EIZO FlexScan monitors to provide color professionals with a cost-effective hardware calibration solution. Hardware calibration produces more predictable and accurate color results than third-party software calibration solutions by directly adjusting the monitor's color settings rather than the output of the computer's graphics board.

EasyPIX's hardware calibration function allows for adjusting the monitor's brightness, color temperature, gamma, and color gamut. Brightness can be adjusted in 10 cd/m2 increments from 60 – 160 cd/m2, color temperature in 100 K increments from 5000 K – 6500 K, and gamma in 0.2 increments from 1.8 to 2.4. In addition, the monitor can be calibrated to Adobe RGB, sRGB, or the monitor's native gamut.

When calibration is complete, EasyPIX creates an ICC profile for color management with third-party retouching software and peripheral devices.

EasyPIX version 2 offers the same features as version 1 including a mode for matching the monitor's hue and brightness to the white of photo paper via visual perception, a photo viewing mode, and a web viewing mode for previewing how photos will appear on most web browsers.

EasyPIX version 2 is compatible with select FlexScan and FORIS monitors.1 Compatible operating systems are Macintosh OS X 10.3.9 and later, and Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
