EIZO Adds Four Diagnostic Monitors with Environmentally-Friendly LED Backlight and Multifunctional Sensors

RadiForce_GX340_RX340_GX240_RX240Hakusan, Japan September 1, 2011 – Eizo Nanao Corporation (TSE: 6737) today announced it will add four new models to its RadiForce G&R-Series of diagnostic monitors, the 3 megapixel monochrome GX340 and color RX340, and the 2 megapixel monochrome GX240 and color RX240.

The new models incorporate LED (light-emitting diode) backlights which, unlike conventional CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) backlights, deteriorate more slowly and thus the monitor offers a longer service life. EIZO offers 5 year full warranty for monochrome monitors and 5 years or 20,000 hours when used at recommended brightness for color monitors. This ensures stable and reliable performance that is needed for diagnostic monitors.

By utilizing an energy-efficient LED backlight, the monitors achieve higher maximum brightness and reduction in power consumption of approximately 21% (EIZO's internal measurement under the same conditions) compared to the same size monitor with a conventional CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) backlight. Since the LED backlight is mercury free, it will reduce any potential impact on the environment upon disposal.

The new models feature EIZO's unique Hybrid Gamma function which automatically distinguishes whether the displayed images are monochrome or color even within the same application. It displays each image in its ideal brightness and grayscale tones. The function also distinguishes monochrome images from different modalities such as chest X-ray or ultrasound and is therefore beneficial for monochrome monitors as well. This expands the usability of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) applications by ensuring that various medical images are optimally displayed simultaneously.

An Integrated Front Sensor (IFS) housed within the front bezel measures brightness and grayscale tones and calibrates to the DICOM Part 14 standard. Without having to connect and disconnect, the IFS performs QC tasks and does not interfere with the viewing area. This dramatically cuts monitor quality control workload and maintenance costs.

All models come equipped with a presence sensor which unites convenience with savings by ensuring that the monitor conserves power when it is not in use. The presence sensor prompts the monitor to switch to power save mode when it detects the user is away from the monitor, and then resume normal operation when the user returns.
